Staff Profiles
Arboricultural Officer
I provide an arboricultural advice and management support service for The Royal Parks. This involves the management of the planting, cultivation and maintenance of trees and shrubs. My main areas of responsibility are developing arboricultural policy, supporting the establishment of tree software systems and associated management of tree records as well as inspecting trees, determining tree work requirements and preparation and management of contracts and projects.
My role is extremely varied as I am responsible for more than 150,000 individual trees and 450 hectares of woodland. In order to meet this immense challenge I work with tree works contractors and arboricultural consultants. I am also involved in initiatives such as Trees for London, the Veteran Tree Initiative, Agenda 21, ISO14001 (Environmental Management System) and the Tree Register of the British Isles. My main working relationships are with Park Managers and Assistant Park Managers, Volunteers, Royal Parks Friends groups, local authorities and the London Tree Officers Association.
I enjoy working outdoors and am interested in conservation and the environment. I am fascinated by the sometimes complex relationships between plants and animals (including humans!) and their environment.
